Tree of Life Wall Plate

A flowering tree of life rises at the centre of this terracotta wall plate, hand painted with a green trunk, blue and turquoise leaves and scattered red blossoms, with two small birds nestled in its branches and tufts of grass at its foot. The upright tree with perched birds is a classic of the Iznik and Mughal tradition, and the fine cobalt outlines give it a delicate, storybook quality. Finished as a wall piece, a meaningful and decorative focal point, the tree of life a favourite motif for new homes and gifts.
